About Me
I was born in Huszt, a small town in the Carpathian Mountains—now part of Ukraine, once of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. Growing up in the rich, shifting cultural tapestry of the former Soviet Union, I began to explore art through abstract forms. Though I briefly studied art history, my path as a painter has been largely self-taught, shaped by personal experience, travel, and a deep curiosity.
In the early 1990s, I moved to Budapest, where the cultural mix of an international student community and my studies in Russian and Portuguese literature further fueled my artistic voice. A pivotal moment came in 2010, when I walked the Camino de Santiago. That journey deeply transformed my creative outlook, bringing surrealist themes into my work as reflections of the landscapes and stories encountered along the way.
Since my first gallery show in Budapest in 2011, my work has been shown in various spaces in Hungary and later in Barcelona, where I’ve lived since 2013. There, I began experimenting with painting on slate, drawn to its texture and natural origin. A series of oil-painted mandalas on slate was exhibited during Poblenou’s Open Art Days in 2015.
Motherhood brought a more intimate creative phase, during which I continued painting, though sharing mostly within close circles. In 2023, a return to the slate-rich mountains of León and Galicia rekindled my connection to the material and to nature itself. Encouraged by fellow artists and friends, I’ve begun exhibiting again all over Europe —this time with a renewed sense of purpose and rootedness.
